PRP Hair rejuvenation – PRP is stands for platelet rich plasma. This treatment uses platelets- cells that form a major role in the wound healing process. PRP is a high concentration of your own blood injected into key areas to help promote skin rejuvenation, reducing wrinkles, increasing collagen production, in turn promoting better skin texture and skin tone. PRP is harvested from your own body meaning it is free from communicable diseases, and can not cause any allergies. PRP amplifies your it’s using your body’s natural healing process with growth factors.
PRP is an advanced and targeted anti-ageing treatment. It regenerates your own body’s natural proteins to help stimulate collagen levels in the scalp, this helps increase the chances of new hair growth. You can expect noticeable results within 8-12 weeks of your first treatment – and continued results after your third plasma treatment.
PRP hair rejuvenation is dependent on many factors including your hormones, possible illness, medications, diet, stress. It is a multi-faceted approach when dealing with hair loss and each individual is different. The suggested treatment plan has been the most successful based on our experience with our patients and research done on this condition.
Please note that dealing with hair loss can be a extremely emotional and confronting condition. It can take up to 18 months to treat. We support our patients through the whole process and by no means promise results. Each hair loss condition can present differently and can take varied times to see results. Ensure you understand this is a long process and needs diligence and commitment.
Generally you will need an initial 3 treatments of PRP skin rejuvenation to allow your skin the best chance of seeing results. This is followed up with a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months thereafter. Some people need more treatments to see results depending on other factors.
You will need weekly needling sessions accompanied with LED light therapy treatments.
Preparing for your treatment
Preparation for the PRP treatment is fairly straight forward. Avoid alcohol consumption the night before as this can dehydrate you and increase the risk of bruising during the treatment.
The success of the treatment is dependent on you being hydrated so at least 1-2 litres of water needs to be consumed the night before the procedure then another 2 – 4 glasses of water before you come in to have your blood taken to ensure you are nicely hydrated. The more hydrated you are the more liquid gold platelet rich serum we can produce from your own blood.
Arrive early to allow for a topical anesthetic cream application to the treatment area and completion of consent forms.
During your treatment
A topical anaesthetic cream is always used to ensure comfort
A PRP treatment can be administered using a skin needling device such as the Dermal needling pen or by injection into the dermal layers of the skin, over a course of four treatments, every 3-4 weeks. Treatments usually last up to one hour and top up treatments are recommended every 6–12 months for optimum results.
After your treatment
Skin redness can persist for up to 24–48 hours and occasionally this may last two days. You may also experience mild bruising or swelling around your eyes and lips.
Please ensure you drink plenty of water and do not wash your skin for twelve hours. Moisturise your skin daily and nightly for 3 days with no active ingredients until day 4. You may experience more dry skin than usual in the following days. This is completely normal. Once the redness has completely dissipated, you can resume your normal skin care regime, however we suggest you check with your practitioner, should you have any questions or concerns.
It is strongly recommended to limit exercise and sweating to avoid the possibility of swelling and bruising for twelve hours.
The best post care solution is to incorporate the treatment with a healing LED light treatment which we suggest immediately post treatment, this also adds to the rejuvenation effect of the PRP treatment you have just had.
- You may experience some redness, bruising, swelling and even some crusting. This can last between 2-4 days depending on severity of the treatment and individual skin response.
- Some tenderness can be experienced, your practitioner will advise some pain relief should you need any.
This treatment is very well tolerated, and generally minimal discomfort is experience post treatment.
If your hair is cut short, close to your scalp or if you have obvious patches where hair is sparse, you scalp will be numbed.
For longer hair, numbing is not possible and some discomfort is experienced during treatment but is well tolerated and is over fairly quickly.
