CO2 LASER RESURFACING

Fractional CO2 laser is one of the most powerful and effective lasers for skin tightening, resurfacing, and rejuvenation. Your skin is the front line of defense against a hostile environment. The result: sun damage, uneven tone, superficial lines, and wrinkles. It’s time to help your skin feel young again, and you have Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Tightening to help.

The Fractional CO2 Laser emits a laser beam that produces controllable residual thermal damage. This then causes your skin to harness your body’s own potential to heal itself. Your body breaks down the damaged cells so your body can remove them, then they stimulate your body’s natural process to produce fresh, elastic and collagen cells which in turn promotes a further reduction in wrinkles and reveals a smoother more youthful skin appearance and skin tightening.

At Medwell Clinic, we utilise CO2 laser to effectively treat:

*Skin rejuvenation and acne scars
*Wrinkles and sun damage, including actinic keratosis
*Pigmentation issues and age warts
*Medical conditions such as skin cancer, rhinophyma, and burn scars
*Delivery of topicals like vitamin A and anti-inflammatories
*Stretchmarks

For general skin rejuvenation, most of our patients require 3-6 sessions of the Level 1 Laser depending on what results they are wanting to achieve.
For more intensive aging conditions such as heavier wrinkles, pigmentation and laxity in the skin then patients will need Level 2-3 laser with 2-3 sessions depending on results they are wanting to achieve.

Unlike other clinics, we perform the treatment with different settings, for example high parameters around the lip wrinkles & eye area.

For acne scars, most patients require between 2-4 sessions.

That can range between 1 day to 90 days. As a guide-

*Superficial laser – Level 1 (delivery of vitamin A), 1-3 days.
*Medium depth laser – Level 2 (sun damage, moderate wrinkles, acne scars), 3.5 to 6 days
*Deep laser resurfacing – Level 3 (deep wrinkles & scars) 7+ days

Our dermal therapists will give you an accurate indication of the downtime you can expect.

Results are noticeable within two weeks. Once the initial redness subsides, your skin will appear and feel refreshed with enhanced luminosity, fewer wrinkles, reduced pigmentation, and improved light transmission.

The benefits will continue to develop over the next 3-6 months as collagen production is further stimulated.

Side effects are more prevalent with fully ablative CO2 lasers compared to fractional lasers. These may include:

*Infection: extremely rare with fractional lasers
*Prolonged redness: commonly seen with fully ablative lasers
*Post-laser pigmentation: more frequent in darker skin types
*Scarring: very rare with fractional lasers

The CO2 laser is considered the gold standard for collagen production. In comparison, microneedling does not achieve the necessary depth or controlled heat to stimulate collagen as effectively as lasers. However, combining RF needling with CO2 laser can greatly enhance a level 1 laser treatment with added treatment effectiveness.
